Dental Assistant

The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking a full-time dental assistant for its affiliated Ohio State Dental Faculty Practice. The dental assistant will be responsible for chairside assisting with a general schedule of supporting a variety of dentists each half day from general to specialty; maintaining equipment and supplies within a dental operatory; taking radiographs; utilizing an intraoral scanner; taking alginate impressions; reviewing patient instructions post procedure; EHR input, including medical history review and blood pressure check; maintaining OHSA sterilization and cleaning protocol; helping other staff members as needed. A dental assistant needs to have use of both hands, dexterity in the fingers and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment. The use of feet is necessary to manipulate dental equipment. The body must be able to work from a dental stool in order to perform most dental procedures. The ability to sit and stand for durations of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: blood borne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; and latex. Required Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be required. Associate degree in relevant field may be preferred. 2 years' experience in dental office practices and procedures, dental operatory practices and procedures, four-handed assisting techniques; knowledge of OHSA and dental sterilization techniques; computer knowledge and experience; current Ohio Dental Board Dental Assistant Radiographer certification; current BLS/CPR certification. Desired Qualifications: Formal dental assisting training; 2+ years' private practice experience with focus on a dental specialty; experience in MyChart/Epic software. Additional Information:

The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 7:30a.m. - 4:30p.m. The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $21.35 to $27.88, commensurate with experience and education. Location:
