Senior Geologist
Location: Asheville, NC Job Type: Regular Full-time Anchor QEA has a growing, nation-wide coal combustion residuals (CCR) program. We are seeking a CCR technical expert with project management experience. The ideal candidate will have 8 to 10 years of experience in CCR and related areas such as monitoring and remediation of inorganic constituents (metals and metalloids) in soil and groundwater. The individual will support the expansion of our CCR practice within our Energy Market Sector, contributing to the growth and success of Anchor QEA's environmental services. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position will include the following: Manage CCR and related soil and groundwater projects Lead interdisciplinary teams of planners, scientists, and engineers Direct data analysis and interpretation for complex data sets Coordinate regulatory reporting for project sites Participate in industry groups such as the Utility Solid Waste Advisory Group (USWAG), American Coal Ash Association (ACAA), and Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Support business development by presenting at conferences, contributing to proposals, and identifying potential clients and project opportunities Mentor junior staff Travel up to 15% of time What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following: BS in geology or closely related field 8 to 10 years of experience in geosciences or closely related field Strong communication and writing skills Professional Geologist (PG) license or the ability to obtain within two years Ability to engage in all client and project work within our industry without restrictions that limit their contributions. Excellent client and interpersonal skills Extensive knowledge and experience working with the 2015 CCR Rule and 2024 Legacy Rule Ability to lead multidisciplinary CCR teams managing compliance, and associated documentation, for CCR ponds and landfills Experience overseeing groundwater monitoring and corrective action programs Demonstrated ability to manage development, production, and review of key deliverables such as groundwater monitoring reports, alternative source demonstrations, assessments of corrective measures, and final remedy selection reports Ability to coordinate project schedules, resource planning, and oversee budgets to deliver high-quality products on time and within scope and budget What Can You Expect?
