Maintenance Mechanic I, Parts Mechanic
Performs work as a parts locator and stockroom mechanic for the Maintenance shop mechanics. Essential Duties: Locates replacement parts as needed to repair equipment in the facilities and maintains check out log on specialty tools Places orders for parts, tracks orders for delivery and payment, receives materials upon delivery, picks up materials that are available locally and processes invoices per FCS standard practices Determines proper methods to make purchases per FCS purchasing requirements. Utilizes computer skills in ordering and locating parts, maintaining in-house stock levels and communicating with staff and vendors Maintains stock room with min-max inventory control practices Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Required Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Certification/Licensure: Valid Georgia Driver License required Eligible to acquire a CDL Must be insurable by Fulton County School insurance carriers Experience Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of related experience required; Stockroom clerk experience preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Working knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the general repair trade Knowledge of stockroom practices, inventory management practices, min - max stock management Knowledge in use of hand and power tools and large equipment attachments related to the trade Must have good phone skills Must be able to understand and follow directions both written and verbal Must be able to work variable shifts Working Conditions: Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity Must be able to work from tall ladders, lifts, scaffolding and/or bucket truck Physical Demands: Typically requires climbing ladders; pushing and/or pulling Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to operate power equipment Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances Must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor
