Electrical Technician 1st Shift
CFP is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team. This role requires a hands-on professional with expertise in electrical controls, power distribution up to 480V, and automated systems. The candidate must be willing to spend time learning as new systems and technologies become available. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude. In this position, the plant electricians and millwrights will look to you as a resource in assisting them when solving complex electrical and mechanical failures. You will be using your skills with PLC's and automated systems as a diagnostic tool for aiding the maintenance teams' mission to keep the plant up and running as safely and efficiently as possible. Specific responsibilities of an Electrical Millwright include: Electrical systems troubleshooting and maintenance: Repair electrical system failures as they arise Maintain electrical equipment in good working order Provide root cause analysis of system failures to prevent reoccurrences Use electrical test equipment to monitor and analyze systems during normal operation to provide preventive maintenance PLC Programming (we use Allen Bradley plc's): Use PLCs to monitor systems and diagnose electrical problems Replace PLC component's that fail and update as needed Update PLC systems as equipment reaches end of service Install and program new PLC equipment as needed for production purposes Electrical Panel Design and Fabrication (we use Capital X Panel Designer): Use electrical design software to design electrical systems prior to starting to build them. Modify blueprints as modifications are made Build electrical panels to suit production needs Mechanical systems: Understand Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems and their operations to diagnose electrical failures on these systems Understanding of mechanical design and how that affects electrical systems operation. Use electrical systems to safely and effectively control numerous forms of energy. Machine Safety: Numerous pieces of equipment have electrical safety controls throughout the plant that must be maintained and routinely tested. When failures are identified, make appropriate repairs and/or replace systems identified as non-compliant. As new risks are identified, provide electrical safety devices and systems that can reduce the exposure to employees. VFD and Servo drives: Replace and reprogram servo and VFD drives as they fail or age out Use software to monitor and troubleshoot intermittent issues in VFD drives Identify as systems are reaching end of life due to run time and replace as part of a preventive maintenance program Network: Maintain the plant network and the PLC network as needed Under the direction of IT department repair or replace network system components Install network cables as directed by IT department or for the connection of equipment to PLC network You will manage the PLC network entirely Electrical power design and installation: You are required to safely power all equipment required by production in a safe and efficient manner Design conduit runs, cabling designs, and terminations Manage electrical crews in the installation of these systems Training and research: Provide advanced training to electrical personnel in all aspects of electrical systems design, maintenance and troubleshooting to continually build our electrical department's skill level. Identify training opportunities through third party vendors that will improve our electrical team's performance and skill level. Maintain a high level of knowledge around new technologies and research ways we can utilize them here. Qualifications: Associate's degree in electrical automation field is preferred. Equivalent practical field experience will be considered. Minimum combination of 5 years combined experience and school required. Journeyman Electricians license required. Masters License or ability to acquire masters license within 1 year of hire required. High level of expertise using Rockwell software including RS Logix 5000, Studio, RS linx and RS Logix 500 High level of expertise in design and maintenance of electrical power systems supplying up to 480v High level of expertise in the installation and maintenance of VFD and Servo drives Ability to use electrical design software to document new system designs.
