Lecturer Or Assistant Professor Of Social Work

Texas A&M University - Texarkana has launched the Better East Texas initiative, an educational campaign to address the needs of this historically underserved region. To support this initiative, we are inviting applications for a Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Social Work. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing academic program intended to provide a positive impact on East Texas. With funding from the 86th Texas Legislature, Texas A&M University-Texarkana is hoping to attract excellent faculty who will contribute to the best possible future for our service region. Salary information: The expected salary range for this position is $55,000.00- $68,000.00 annually. Location: Texarkana, TX. This will be a full-time face-to-face/hybrid position, and the selected candidate will be required to be on the Texas A&M University-Texarkana campus. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching in the BSW and MSW social work programs. Teach in generalist and clinical social work classes as needed; assist with curriculum design in alignment with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS) 2022; and employ a student-centered pedagogy. Advise social work majors and contribute in other ways to the social work program. Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines. Serve on division, college, and university committees. Conduct and publish field specific research to enhance the general body of knowledge in social work. Collaborative research with undergraduate and graduate students is encouraged (Assistant Professor rank only). Present research findings and other academic papers at national or professional conferences. Support and participate in social work community activities and professional organizations to develop professional partnerships and meet the institution's strategic goals. Cultivate and develop working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Lecturer of Social Work (non-tenure track) teaching assignment: 15 SCH undergraduate and/or graduate courses each semester in the classroom and/or online Assistant Professor of Social Work (tenure track) teaching assignment: 12 SCH undergraduate and graduate courses each semester in the classroom and/or online Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications - Lecturer (non-tenure track) and Assistant Professor Rank (tenure track) Earned MSW from a CSWE-accredited institution At least two years of post-master's social work practice experience Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database capabilities Ability to work efficiently and effectively with all segments of the student population Minimum Qualifications - Assistant Professor (tenure-track) Rank Only Earned DSW or Ph.D. in social work, social welfare, or closely related field Evidence of scholarship and research agenda Preferred Qualifications Candidates that are licensed, or license-eligible, as a social worker in Texas and/or Arkansas Record of teaching excellence in social work or related field Demonstrated experience in program and curricular development Clinical experience working with children, trauma, or addictions Proficiency in online and hybrid teaching methods Other Requirements Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours Ability to maintain confidentiality Supervision of Personnel: This position generally does not supervise employees.
