The Microsoft Red Team identifies and demonstrates risks to proactively address vulnerabilities. The Research & Exploitation Team within the Red Team focuses on forward-looking research, discovering exploits, and high-value attack vectors. We provide leadership visibility into risks and enable successful breach operations. We seek a Principal Security Research Manager to lead our North America team. You will grow and oversee a team of world-class Security Researchers specializing in vulnerabilities across application, cloud, network, and operational security. You will collaborate with the global Microsoft Red Team, engineering teams, and the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) during vulnerability disclosures. You will also expand the team’s capability to respond to severe security incidents involving Threat Actors, working with MSTIC and GHOST teams. Responsibilities Lead and support a distributed team of security researchers focused on discovering zero-day vulnerabilities in cloud environments and related technologies. Allocate resources, prioritize work, and adapt to changing priorities; coordinate across groups to support research efforts. Serve as an escalation point for conflicting priorities and secure additional resources as needed. Guide the team to focus on high-priority security research across multiple projects and domains. Advocate for security improvements within the company by building partnerships and communicating risks effectively. Disseminate research insights to relevant stakeholders, balancing the benefits of sharing techniques with security risks. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders benefiting from research insights. Ensure feedback mechanisms inform future research directions.
