Apprentice Tool And Die Maker

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Tool and Die Maker to join the Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. This apprenticeship program is designed to provide hands-on training and mentorship, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a skilled Tool and Diemaker. Successful completion of the 8,000 hour apprenticeship will result in the receipt of a Journeyperson card from the State of Connecticut. This apprenticeship is the foundation, providing structured training in the beginning of your career with us at Legrand, Wiremold.

What Will You Do?

  • Assist in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of precision tools, dies, and fixtures.
  • Operate and maintain various machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with experienced Tool and Diemakers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in classroom training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an Advanced Manufacturing or other certificate program covering machining, inspection, shop math, and related topics.
  • Preferred Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing and machining. Basic understanding of mathematics and technical drawing. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Good communication skills.
