Siuslaw School District Bus Driver

This is a 10-month/renewable position with 179 day contract calendar, that includes benefits of paid medical and leave. Schedule: Split Shift estimated 6:30am - 8:30am AND 2:30pm - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, plus some mid day routes (times to be determined).

Summary: Operate school buses under all types of weather conditions to transport students and other authorized persons as a permanent substitute driver on all 'to and from' routes and on activity trips as authorized by the school district officials. Ensuring vehicle is in safe operating condition and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from the bus. Serve as a courteous representative of the Siuslaw School District. When not driving a route, will work as a bus monitor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental standards necessary to perform the duties, and responsibilities of a school bus driver as required by the State and District policies and procedures.
  • Possess a valid Oregon Commercial Drivers License, Type B, with passenger, air brake and school bus endorsements, demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Possess an Oregon School Bus Drivers Certificate and maintain a driving record within ODE requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in performance of duties.
  • Willingness to attend workshops and training sessions.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work and communicate with students, parents and school personnel.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others.
