Radiation Therapist
Responsible for the simulation and delivery of radiation therapy treatments to patients, including specialized procedures such as stereotactic radiosurgery.
Position Responsibilities:
- Delivers radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Works efficiently throughout the day to maintain department schedules.
- Performs CT Simulations as directed by the Radiation Oncologist; to include fabrication of positioning and immobilization devices, tattooing and simple beam modification devices.
- Performs Daily Quality Assurance on both the Linear Accelerator and CT Simulator.
- Troubleshoots problems on linear accelerator and CT simulator and contacts vendor support as well as informing physicist and manager.
- Appropriately and accurately documents in electronic medical record and written medical record.
- Explains procedures to patients thoroughly and ensures understanding. Attentive to a patient's side effects and acts as liaison between patient, nurse and or physician.
- Reviews each chart for accurate documentation and for changes in prescription, written orders, or patient setup parameters. Perform time-out procedure before initiating all treatments and or simulations.
- Schedules patients according to department guidelines in ARIA.
- Maintains the appearance of the treatment room and CT Simulation room throughout the day by keeping the room neat and orderly.
- Participates in on-call rotation.
- Has basic knowledge of billing procedures.
- Performs basic dosimetry calculations.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
- 1 year experience preferred.
Required Education:
- Certificate of completion/degree from an Accredited Radiation Oncology Program.
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
- ARRT accreditation in Radiation Therapy.
- NJ State license in Radiation Therapy.
- CPR certification.
Hourly Rate: $43.48 - $69.55 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
