Job Title

Set up, operate, or tend machines, such as glass forming machines, plodder machines, and tuber machines, to shape and form products, such as glassware, food, rubber, soap, brick, tile, clay, wax, tobacco, or cosmetics. Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Extrusion Press Stretcher (Extrusion C) ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Extrusion Press Stretcher (Extrusion C) will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum's Customer 1st Philosophy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates the extrusion stretcher in a safe and productive manner, making sure to keep parts spaced properly to best utilize the space while not causing scratches or dents.
  • Measure and examine extruded products during routine quality checks with the intent to locate defects and check part conformance to specifications found on blueprints.
  • Determine setup procedures according to specifications, and document any inconsistencies or changes.
  • Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance on the extrusion stretcher and press area. (Ex. Monitor oil levels, change and replace worn tooling, basic cleaning).
  • Communicate with team about quality, machine, or safety issues making sure that the supervisor is aware of any issues.
  • Operate cranes or forklifts to move raw material, scrap, and tooling when needed.

  • Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments.
