Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and manage an electrical engineering team composed of senior, mid-level, and entry-level engineers. This role includes technical project leadership, client management, and active participation in winning new business. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing building electrical systems and infrastructure (low and medium-voltage systems), delivering high-quality engineering solutions, and mentoring engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage electrical team assignments and staffing forecasts
Develop and deliver training sessions for team development
Lead performance evaluations and goal setting for team members
Design site and facility electrical systems, interior/exterior lighting, and telecommunications systems
Design low- and medium-voltage electrical systems
Prepare design documents (plans, specifications) across all phases (Programming, Schematic, Design Development, Construction Documents)
Provide construction phase support including submittal review, RFI response, and field inspections
Perform system calculations (short circuit, voltage drop, building load analysis, etc.)
Participate in value engineering exercises and assist in proposal preparation
Prepare technical reports and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
Lead or support MEP-related projects with multidisciplinary teams
Manage budgets, schedules, and client expectations while maintaining quality standards

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (Virginia preferred; NCEES registration or ability to obtain licensure in multiple states)
Minimum of 10 years of experience in building electrical systems design and electrical infrastructure
Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related NFPA standards
Experience with USACE UFC criteria and UFGS specifications
Broad experience in healthcare, municipal, institutional, transportation, and industrial facilities design
Familiarity with high-performance sustainable systems design and solar/PV systems (a plus)
Design-Build project delivery experience
Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and electrical analysis software (EasyPower, SKM, or ETAP)
