Financial Analyst
Dorrean is currently recruiting for a financial analyst with an active top secret for a contract role with a federal agency in Las Cruces, NM. Responsibilities include developing and assisting in the management of annual budgets for operating and capital expenses, providing information to management by assembling and summarizing data, preparing reports, making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations, calculating intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions, conducting basic financial analysis, assisting in the development of plans and budgets for operating and capital expenditures, forecasting management plans and preparing monthly performance, explaining variances, assisting in determining financial consequences of alternative methods, plans and strategies, developing, formulating, and revising budget requests from various programs, units, and sections, consolidating the accuracy of budget estimates using statistical techniques, monitoring and tracking obligations and expenditures for assigned activity accounts on related budgetary forms, schedules, and reports, verifying that obligations and expenditures occur on a timely basis in accordance with the annual spend plan and regulatory contracts and are within amounts programmed, developing corrective financial action plans, as required, that support project policies, procedures, and goals, participating in change management and contingency management processes, preparing budget and cost reports for submission to management, reviewing cost data with management and coordinating resolution of concerns with other team members, determining solutions and/or implementing enhancements to improve business intelligence reporting, and identifying and proposing solutions to management problems characterized by their breadth, importance, and severity.
Requirements include a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with eight (8) years or more of financial analyst, budget formulation, and budget execution experience. Educational requirement may be waived if the candidate has ten (10) or more years of experience. Additionally, eight (8) years or more experience in performing financial calculations such as time value of money, annual net present value, internal rate of return, periodic amortization, and using financial calculator and excel spreadsheets is required. Eight (8) years or more experience calculating complex figures, forecasting and preparing budgets, and conducting financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports is also required. Eight (8) years or more of experience analyzing and applying problem solving methods to identify complex problems, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and provide solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness is necessary. Ability to calculate advanced financial figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions with in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles is also required.
