We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lease and Technical Accountant to join our established team. As a Lease and Technical Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our lease accounting records, while also providing technical accounting expertise to support our business operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the lease accounting process, including lease classification, data gathering, and data entry into our lease accounting system (Oracle & CoStar).
- Perform technical accounting research and analysis to support the implementation of new accounting standards, specifically ASC 842.
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and maintain lease accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP accounting principles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including real estate, legal, and finance, to ensure accurate and timely lease accounting records.
- Conduct regular reviews of lease agreements to ensure compliance with lease accounting standards and identify potential issues or risks.
- Prepare and present lease accounting reports to senior management and other stakeholders as needed.
- Assist with the implementation of lease accounting software and other technology solutions to improve lease accounting processes and efficiency.
- Provide technical accounting expertise to support business operations, including analysis of complex accounting transactions and preparation of technical memos.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in lease accounting, technical accounting, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and ASC 842.
- Experience with lease accounting software (Oracle, Costar, etc.) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects and deliverables.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
