What You'll Do
Are you a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys bringing clarity to complex financial processes? The Accounts Payable (AP) Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices and expenses in accordance with firm policy. This role involves auditing transactions, verifying multi-state tax accruals, managing supplier communications, and contributing to process improvements-all while supporting the financial health of the firm through precise, proactive work.
  • Ensure Financial Accuracy - Reviewing invoices for proper coding, approvals, and tax treatment, and by conducting daily audits to enforce policy compliance.
  • Manage Supplier Relationships - Managing due diligence, document verification, and resolving payment issues, including past due invoices.
  • Support Financial Operations - Reconciling uploads to financial systems, logging exceptions, preparing payments, voucher reclassifications and responding to AP inquiries.
  • Drive Process Improvements - Participating in analysis projects and supporting department-wide efficiency initiatives while ensuring rush requests are handled daily.
  • Team Support - Answer AP support line inquiries, assemble paperwork and approvals for final verifications and maintain electronic storage of complete documents.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business preferred, with 3-5 years of accounts payable experience, ideally in a law firm or professional services setting.
  • Attention to Detail - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and ensure accuracy under pressure.
  • Team-Oriented Mindset - Proactive, service-focused approach with a willingness to support colleagues and improve team processes.
  • Tech-Savvy: Intermediate MS Excel skills are required with familiarity with 3E Elite or Coupa systems highly desirable.
Compensation
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Compensation Range:
  • Chicago: $65,000 - $74,000
