General Accountant

As a General Accountant, you will play an essential role within our Accounting, reporting to the Controller/Sr. Manager. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Validate and balance billing system reports on a daily basis.
- Assist in coordination of accounting close tasks on a monthly basis including preparing month end journal entries.
- Record routine transactions for assigned accounts during monthly close.
- Process allocations using computerized accounting system.
- Prepare account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting. Work with staff to research and correct any reconciling items.
- Prepare quarterly credit loss reserve memo and other quarterly memos as assigned.
- Cross-train as backup payroll and other accounting functions.
- Perform special analytical projects as assigned.
- Prepare project billings.
- Prepare annual unclaimed property reporting.
- Process meter additions, retirements and prepare monthly reconciliation.
- Assist with processing inventory count.
- Communicate directly with employees and supervisors on General Accounting matters; respond to inquiries in a clear and timely manner.
- Process audit requests.
- Protect ENSTAR's value by keeping information confidential.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Three years of related work experience.
- Experience working with an automated accounting system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate Excel or higher.
- Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Ability to work with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures; ability to perform related tasks.
- Analytical ability to review, understand, and audit information.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, multi-task, and complete projects timely.
- Ability to make independent decisions and to respond to short-notice changes in daily activities.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and knowledge or ability to quickly learn other personal computer business software applications presently used by ENSTAR, including JDE.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment used by ENSTAR.
- Ability to interact courteously and effectively in adverse situations.
- Proven organizational, proofreading, and time management skills.
