Information Security Systems Engineer
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. This Information Security Systems Engineer will work within the Defense Acquisition framework for undersea combat systems supporting national defense priority mission areas.
Responsibilities:
- Provides technical and programmatic Information Assurance Services to internal and external customers in support of network and information security systems.
- Designs, develops and implements security requirements within an organization's business processes.
- Prepares documentation from information obtained from customer using accepted guidelines such as DITSCAP (DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process).
- Prepares Security Test and Evaluation plans.
- Provides certification and accreditation support in the development of security and contingency plans and conducts complex risk and vulnerability assessments.
- Support the engineering aspects of defense acquisition projects, including requirements development, system design, integration, verification, and validation.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of key acquisition documentation (e.g., SOWs, specifications, test plans, and technical reports)
- Assist in managing project schedules, technical risks, and resource allocation.
- Participate in technical meetings, milestone reviews, and supplier/vendor engagements.
- Ensure compliance with DoD acquisition policies, technical standards, and quality assurance processes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, scientists, program managers, and government customers.
- Compile data, analyze problems, and recommend effective solutions to support decision-making.
- Support the implementation of cybersecurity requirements and system resiliency measures, as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline (Master's preferred)
- 2-5 years of engineering experience in defense acquisition, systems engineering, or a related field.
- Security + Certification Required, CSWF Certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition lifecycle, policies, and standards (such as DoDI 5000 series).
- Hands-on experience with technical documentation, requirements management, and system integration.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Active or re-in statable SECRET security clearance.
Pay Transparency Statement AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $67,800.00/Yr. - USD $113,200.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
