Senior Accountant

A manufacturing company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team. This individual will play a critical role in preparing and reviewing financial statements, maintaining accounting controls, supporting audits, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in GAAP, solid experience in general ledger accounting, and a proactive approach to leadership and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Manage and maintain corporate general ledger accounting activities.
  • Support and assist in the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Contribute to the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Assist in analyzing inventory and cost accounting systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations.
  • Implement and continuously improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting systems.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior accounting staff.
  • Act as a backup to the Controller and support in strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).
