The Undersea Technology Analysis Group (UTAG), within the Sea, Land, and Air Division in SPA, conducts rigorous and objective analyses to enable the Navy and other DoD organizations to make decisions, plans, and strategies to deliver emerging undersea technologies and warfighting capabilities. We support clients across the undersea and naval special warfare enterprises, including those within resourcing and requirements, acquisition, and science and technology.
Our enduring capabilities include:
- Identifying capability gaps, developing requirements, and generating solutions
- Assessing the operational utility and technical feasibility of new technologies
- Execution of acquisition and technology development programs, including developing plans and roadmaps to mature, deliver, and sustain new technologies
- Analysis of vulnerabilities and threats to undersea platforms and systems
- Quantitative analysis and modeling of undersea forces and their missions
SPA is assembling a team to support Naval Expeditionary Programs (PMS 408) with their portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree
- 1 or more years of qualifying experience in financial analysis
- Ability to work on-site in Alexandria, VA up to full time, depending on client needs
- DoD Secret Clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts Degree in an associated business discipline
- 3 years' experience in a related field
Responsibilities:
Financial analysts provide financial management support for a branch, office, organization, or department. They may also perform the following duties:
- Providing advice and technical assistance in the preparation of annual budgets
- Measuring organizational performance; assessing the effects of various programs and policies on the budget
- Examining budget estimates or proposals for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with established procedures, regulations, and organizational objectives
- Employing cost-benefit analysis to review financial requests, assess program tradeoffs, and explore alternative funding methods
- Examining past and current budgets and researching economic and financial developments that affect the organization's spending
- Developing guidelines and policies governing the formulation and maintenance of budgets
- Conducting training sessions for company or government agency personnel regarding new budget procedures
- Coordinating financial activities across various stakeholders
- Managing finances across multiple funding types
- Tracking budgets, costs, and variances
- Producing executive summaries
- Conducting financial reporting and analyses on financial issues and customer requirements
- Developing and proposing courses of actions (COAs) and recommendations for financial issues
- Interpreting and applying financial management principles
- Applying financial management processes, techniques, policies, regulations, and organizational strategic goals
