Position Summary
The Senior Bookkeeper will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day accounting activities for multiple clients. This position requires strong technical bookkeeping skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple engagements efficiently. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently and collaborating with CPAs, tax professionals, and clients in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger records for multiple client accounts
- Perform full-charge bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
- Process payroll and prepare payroll tax filings when needed
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Assist with year-end close procedures and support tax preparation efforts
- Manage sales tax filings, 1099 reporting, and other compliance requirements
- Communicate directly with clients to gather financial data and resolve discrepancies
- Collaborate with CPAs and Tax Associates to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Maintain up-to-date and organized client files using cloud-based accounting systems
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting or multi-client environment
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and Desktop)
- Experience with additional platforms such as Excel, Bill.com, Gusto, and other accounting-related tools
- Solid understanding of GAAP and standard bookkeeping practices
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts with strong organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable interacting with clients and internal team members professionally
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
