We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Tax Associate with 7+ years of progressive tax experience to join our team. This role will focus on complex tax compliance and strategic planning for a diverse client portfolio, including S-corporations, partnerships, trusts & estates, and high-net-worth individuals . The ideal candidate is a CPA (or CPA-eligible) with a strong command of tax law, hands-on experience using UltraTax , and a track record of delivering high-quality service in a public accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review advanced federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals (1040s), S-corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates , and not-for-profits.
- Lead complex tax engagements from planning to delivery, ensuring compliance while identifying tax-saving opportunities and managing risk.
- Analyze and reconcile financial data, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, trial balances, and supporting schedules for tax reporting purposes.
- Provide strategic guidance to clients on business structuring, tax implications of transactions, and year-round tax planning strategies.
- Manage and oversee client accounting functions when needed, including general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation.
- Draft and review technical memoranda and professional correspondence related to IRS and state notices, audits, and other tax matters.
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior staff and associates, offering technical leadership and contributing to their professional growth.
- Collaborate with partners and managers on client relationship management and business development initiatives.
- Stay current on changes in tax regulations and industry trends, proactively applying new knowledge to client engagements and internal processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters in Taxation is a plus).
- CPA license or CPA eligibility is required.
- 7+ years of tax experience in public accounting or a similar environment.
- Deep experience with S-corps, partnerships, trust and estate returns, 1040s , and high-net-worth individuals .
- Proficient in UltraTax or similar tax preparation software.
- Strong technical understanding of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients and team members.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
