Senior Income Tax Analyst

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Taxes, the Senior Income Tax Analyst plays an important role within the tax department. The Senior Income Tax Analyst will be part of a 4 person federal tax team and will primarily be responsible for preparation of the quarterly and annual reporting of the global corporate income tax provision for US GAAP under ASC 740 rules and supporting the US federal income tax compliance and reporting process, which includes support to our co-sourcing partner in the preparation and related calculations and workpapers for our federal income tax compliance and tax returns. The Senior Tax Analyst will collaborate with team members to assist and provide guidance on U.S. federal tax matters and will participate in various projects and strategic initiatives. This position is Hybrid requiring 50% of time onsite at the Lake Forest, IL headquarters.

You Will

  • Preparation of the quarterly and annual reporting of the global corporate income tax provision for US GAAP under ASC 740 rules
  • Monitor and analyze US GAAP/SEC requirements on income tax accounting and impacts from US tax legislation changes on income tax accounting
  • Preparation and analysis of federal tax files and schedules and directly interface with our Big Four co-sourcing compliance partner and our external auditors
  • Monitor and analyze changes in US tax legislation and determine impact to Grainger
  • Research and interpret complex tax issues and apply tax law to specific facts and transactions
  • Assist in special projects
  • Directly interface with cross functional teams and business partners to obtain appropriate information and communicate tax impacts
  • Prepare analytics for internal and external partners
  • Operate and optimize technology tools, systems, and processes while evaluating emerging solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy

You Have

  • B.A/B.S. in Accounting/Finance required
  • CPA preferred
  • 3+ years related experience
  • Federal tax experience with Public accounting or large multi-national corporations strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products required, specifically Microsoft Word, advanced Microsoft Excel including Power Query, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Corp Tax experience strongly preferred
  • Alteryx, Power BI, Smartsheet and Co-Pilot skills preferred/open to learning
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written effective communication skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset
