Accounting Manager

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:30a-5:00p

Applies principles of accounting to develop, analyze, and interpret complex financial and accounting concepts used in the preparation of financial statements and reports. Administers and maintains the organization's financial systems; analyzes and verifies the inputs and outputs to those systems. Prepares financial records and provides statistical information and recommendations to management in compliance with internal and external requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following. Other Duties May Be Assigned.

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal vouchers and other source inputs into the general ledger in compliance with internal closing schedules, GAAP, and internal policies.
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports to ensure accuracy and consistency of accounting data.
  • Responsible for month-end financial close process, including journal entries, financial statements, variance analyses, reporting, reconciliations, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current financial position.
  • Perform comparative analysis of financial information and provides relevant and actionable information regarding variances to appropriate decision makers.
  • Complete reconciliation for general ledger inputs to supporting documentation and monthly balance sheet accounts.
  • Develop and maintain record keeping system to support, manage, and validate capital assets.
  • Prepare annual state and federal reporting as needed.
  • Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures and the improvement of the organization's accounting operation.
  • Develop and/or optimize process improvements and documentation; monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company procedures.
  • Apply accounting theory to difficult or unusual accounting transactions or issues.
  • Act as a resource to other departments for accounting-related issues and assists in ad hoc projects and assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university; and at least four years related experience and/or training.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Accounting software; Inventory software and Payroll systems.
