Patient Accounts Analyst

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Patient Accounts Analyst to work coordination of benefit denials. Ideal applicants will have strong written and oral communication as they will be speaking with patients and insurance companies.

The Patient Accounts Analyst ensures that all insurance, accounts receivable and billing processes are completed accurately and timely. This includes, but is not limited to cash posting, billing, and the review and reconciliation of individual patient accounts. This position provides support to internal departments on AR matters and works closely with their management team to maintain efficient operations and to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing payment trends in the Account Receivable and denials to work with various payors and provider representatives to ensure accuracy among our payor contracts; providing expertise in payment and contractual allowances to ensure accuracy among our payor contracts, clinical arrangements and hospital agreements.
  • Monitoring reimbursements from third party carriers as defined in contracts through federal and state requirements; ensuring appropriate reimbursement among various specialty billing areas and complex claims.
  • Analyzing, developing and preparing reports for leadership utilized for operations and identifying trends; utilizing knowledge of all aspects of the revenue cycle to make sound decisions as it relates to the remediation of claims.
  • Participating in regular meetings with payor representatives, clinical departments or hospital facilities; studying data, identifying discrepancy patterns and presenting solutions; analyzing clinical or payor data to make informed decisions on the remediation of patient accounts.
  • Providing informal guidance, support and training to team members to aid in achieving revenue management's operational objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 2-5 years
