Job Details
The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting financial operations, assisting leadership with the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and the implementation of internal accounting controls.
Essential Functions:
* Execute month-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate reporting * Prepare monthly financial statements such as Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement * Review and reconcile fixed asset accounts and related depreciation schedules * Analyze general ledger accounts to verify the accuracy of financial reporting, including areas such as insurance, leases, and debt * Maintain and update daily cash activity and reporting * Evaluate accounting procedures for compliance with internal controls and organizational policies * Oversee general ledger account maintenance and ensure reconciliation accuracy * Support external audit processes by preparing schedules and providing required documentation * Conduct monthly trust account reviews in accordance with applicable regulations * Assist in preparing annual budget figures for key expense areas, including depreciation and taxes * Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy * Provide analytical support for various financial projects and initiatives
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting * 2 to 7 years of experience in public accounting or corporate finance, including financial reporting, compliance, and audit coordination * Proven experience with general ledger, fixed assets, and month-end close procedures * Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial software systems (e.g., Aderant, Sage) is a plus * Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, service-oriented mindset
