Job Description Summary
The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides academic support across all majors and disciplines with the goal of helping students become engaged, self-sufficient learners who are confident in their abilities to reach their goals. ASC Office Assistants work to provide an approachable, nurturing environment within the Academic Success Center. Their goal is to ensure all visitors feel welcomed, supported, and aware of ASC services provided for the campus community. During their shifts, Office Assistants manage the ASC email account, answer the phone, ensure all appointments are running smoothly, and perform special projects such as decorating the ASC space, organizing supplies, performing class visits, and anything surrounding creating a positive atmosphere.
Specific Duties
  1. Monitor ASC Tutoring and Academic Coaching scheduling and appointments, ensuring appointments are booked appropriately and running smoothly
  2. Answer the ASC phone line and respond to and monitor the ASC email account, performing customer service for the ASC
  3. Organize, clean, decorate, and monitor the ASC workspace, including the Staff Resource room as well as supply closets. Perform inventory of supplies and make recommendations when supplies need to be ordered.
  4. Assist ASC professional staff with special projects and/or tasks, checking in each shift to determine if there are any tasks to be worked on
  5. Perform class visits, promoting ASC services within the campus community
  6. Other duties as assigned by the Director and/or ASC professional staff
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Communication skills: interact effectively with others, both written and verbally .
  2. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  3. Project management skills and accountability
  4. Must be a current ULV student
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Familiar with the services offered by the Academic Success Center.

Benefits Summary
Employees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
