The Staff Associate I (SAI) will assist in the Management and maintenance of a gnotobiotic mouse colony. Assist in experimental design in gnotobiotic experiments. Management and maintenance of a laboratory mouse colony, including genotyping and microbiota testing. Assist in the experimental design of experiments in mucosal immunology. Organization and ordering of necessary supplies and reagents and maintenance of related financial records. Maintenance of electronic records and inventories.

Responsibilities

Must have knowledge of mouse husbandry, genotyping, molecular biology (PCR, Q-PCR), microbiology and scientific methods and analysis. Experience in flow cytometry or cell culture is preferred. Experience in gnotobiotic techniques is highly advantageous. Assist in experimental design.

Utilizes analytical skills to solve moderately complex problems based on guidelines, protocols, and procedures. Troubleshoots equipment as needed.

Works with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies required to properly and effectively implement operations. Works with PI to prepare monthly financial reports.

Must have ability to operate and maintain equipment, software and instruments used in project. Instrument and equipment maintenance.

Must be able to share information and confirmation of data. Weekly meetings with PI

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related STEM field.

Other Requirements

*

Understanding of basic scientific methods.

Knowledge of mouse husbandry, genotyping, molecular biology, microbiology.

Experience in gnotobiotic techniques is highly preferred.
