Overview The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.

Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.

Posting Summary Rutgers Institute for Nicotine & Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a Senior Data Analyst with strong quantitative skills and experience in simulation modeling to develop and oversee data infrastructure, data management, and perform analyses to facilitate the successful completion of applicable simulation modeling research objectives.

Duties include:

Develop, update, and perform data quality control (QC) procedures to ensure data integrity; works withfaculty to address issues impacting data quality including but not limited to response bias/aberrantresponding, system issues, and data entry and collection errors. Prepare datasets and provide supporting documentation for statistical analysis and simulation modeling. Develop appropriate simulation and statistical models to analyze research data, while managing and maintaining datasets. Interact with senior and junior investigators to analyze study data for technical reports, journal articles,and conference presentations. This may include writing and contributing to publications. Assist with the coordination of submission of data to federal, agencies, and other externalstakeholders. Functions as a seasoned professional with strong skills in planning, organizing, and completing data requests and reporting projects. Works under minimal supervision and uses independent judgment to provide creative solutions to complex problems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related field One (1) year of relevant work experience in simulation modeling. Strong interpersonal and written communications skills are essential. Expertise in statistical analysis programs (R, STATA, SAS, and/or SPSS) Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement. Preferred Qualifications

PhD preferred Three (3) years of relevant work experience Experience with simulation modeling of tobacco use and working with large data systems such as PATH, NHIS, BRFSS and/or TUS-CPS Working knowledge of tobacco control-related issues
