About the Role:
The Lead Cook at DoubleTree San Diego Bayside will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. This position is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation. The Lead Cook will lead a team of kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to foster a collaborative and efficient work environment. Additionally, this role involves menu planning, inventory management, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. Ultimately, the Lead Cook will contribute to the overall success of our dining services, enhancing guest satisfaction and driving repeat business.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a cook in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience in food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a leadership role within a kitchen setting.
  • Familiarity with menu planning and cost control measures.
  • Certification in food safety management.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels to ensure kitchen operations run smoothly.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is sometimes exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently to hot or cold interior conditions as well as moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools and hot external surfaces of kitchen cooking equipment. The employee must also be able to go up and down a flight of stairs while carrying 100 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
