About the Role

  • We are seeking experienced Manufacturing Engineers to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – Powertrain Battery Production team. The primary objective is to support the ramp-up of a greenfield mass production facility for powertrain batteries by improving throughput through process optimization, equipment enhancements, headcount planning, and quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with production equipment, manufacturing teams, and quality departments to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identify production bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
  • Design, modify, and optimize manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with controls, equipment, and quality teams.
  • Support multiple product/line launches from commissioning through ramp-up.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or industrial engineering.

Backgrounds of Interest:

  • Manufacturing equipment or process engineering in high-volume automation environments.
  • Systems integrator or equipment builder experience (design/building of automation equipment, robotics, feeder systems, end-of-arm tooling).
  • Powertrain or battery manufacturing (cylindrical, NMC, or LFP preferred).

Technical Skills

  • CAD proficiency (CATIA preferred ; SolidWorks, Fusion, AutoCAD acceptable).
  • GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Root cause analysis, Six Sigma methodologies, and process flow optimization.
  • Experience with robotic programming, vision systems, and DC tool optimization (preferred).

Industry Flexibility

  • Equipment design experience from related industries (biomedical, material handling, etc.) is acceptable if automation is heavy.
  • Pure process experience without battery exposure is less likely to be a fit.

Day-One Expectations

  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment/process issues immediately.
  • Design equipment using 2D/3D CAD tools.
  • Apply GD&T principles and tolerance analysis without supervision.

Performance Metrics (KPIs)

  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement.
  • First-Time-Through (FTT) quality rates.
  • Downtime reduction and throughput increase.

Interview Process

  • Conversational review of work history and experience.
  • Technical deep dive into problem-solving methods and past improvement projects.
  • Possible senior engineer panel for specialized areas.
  • Presentation or portfolio of past work (equipment design examples).

Disqualification Criteria

  • Lack of automation or equipment background.
  • Primarily manual process experience without high-volume automation exposure.
  • No proven hands-on design or troubleshooting experience.
