Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer III

About the Role
- We are seeking experienced Manufacturing Engineers to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – Powertrain Battery Production team. The primary objective is to support the ramp-up of a greenfield mass production facility for powertrain batteries by improving throughput through process optimization, equipment enhancements, headcount planning, and quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work hands-on with production equipment, manufacturing teams, and quality departments to enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify production bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Design, modify, and optimize manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with controls, equipment, and quality teams.
- Support multiple product/line launches from commissioning through ramp-up.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or industrial engineering.
Backgrounds of Interest:
- Manufacturing equipment or process engineering in high-volume automation environments.
- Systems integrator or equipment builder experience (design/building of automation equipment, robotics, feeder systems, end-of-arm tooling).
- Powertrain or battery manufacturing (cylindrical, NMC, or LFP preferred).
Technical Skills
- CAD proficiency (CATIA preferred ; SolidWorks, Fusion, AutoCAD acceptable).
- GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Root cause analysis, Six Sigma methodologies, and process flow optimization.
- Experience with robotic programming, vision systems, and DC tool optimization (preferred).
Industry Flexibility
- Equipment design experience from related industries (biomedical, material handling, etc.) is acceptable if automation is heavy.
- Pure process experience without battery exposure is less likely to be a fit.
Day-One Expectations
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment/process issues immediately.
- Design equipment using 2D/3D CAD tools.
- Apply GD&T principles and tolerance analysis without supervision.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement.
- First-Time-Through (FTT) quality rates.
- Downtime reduction and throughput increase.
Interview Process
- Conversational review of work history and experience.
- Technical deep dive into problem-solving methods and past improvement projects.
- Possible senior engineer panel for specialized areas.
- Presentation or portfolio of past work (equipment design examples).
Disqualification Criteria
- Lack of automation or equipment background.
- Primarily manual process experience without high-volume automation exposure.
- No proven hands-on design or troubleshooting experience.
