Delta Waste Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to support our residential and commercial waste operations in Hattiesburg, MS and the surrounding areas. This on-site role serves as a key point of contact for customers and vendors, manages billing operations, resolves account issues, and plays a vital role in maintaining financial accuracy and customer satisfaction. The position also assists with customer onboarding and front office operations.
Key Responsibilities
Billing & Invoicing
- Prepare and process accurate customer invoices on a regular billing cycle
- Reconcile accounts and investigate billing discrepancies in coordination with operations and customer service
- Maintain up-to-date customer account records and payment histories
- Accept and process payments made in person or over the phone
- Heavy use of internal billing and scheduling software
Customer Service & Communication
- Answer incoming calls from residential customers and provide prompt, professional assistance regarding trash service and billing inquiries
- Log and communicate customer complaints and service requests to the operations team for action/resolution
- Build rapport with residential and commercial customers to support retention and service satisfaction
Customer Onboarding Support
- Assist with the enrollment and setup of new residential and commercial waste customers
- Provide account setup support, payment guidance, and service education to new customers
Accounts Payable & Administrative Duties
- Review, code, and route vendor invoices for approval and payment processing
- Generate billing and customer service reports for leadership use
- Support general office administrative needs and collaborate with the operations team on internal communications
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in billing, office administration, or customer service
- Strong attention to detail and accountability in handling financial transactions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel); familiarity with CRM, billing, and scheduling software preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and thrive in a fast-paced office environment
- Comfort working with cash, card payments, reconciliations, and sensitive account data
- Experience working in a service-based or logistics-focused company is a plus
Work Environment
- Office-based role, Monday to Friday during standard business hours
- Flexible hours may be required during peak call times or program launch periods
