Performs daily quality control calibration checks on all equipment to ensure proper functioning before any patient study is performed. Injects patients with radioactive material per the physician's order, following the prescribed protocol. Observes all department documentation policies by filling in all appropriate logs, manuals, and charge documents. Reports equipment problems to comply with regulatory agencies. Performs quality control, quality assurance, and safety tests. Follows radiation safety guidelines to comply with the ALARA principle. Maintains, develops, and retrieves patient films and electronic data for Radiologist interpretation. Orders patient-specific radiopharmaceutical doses one day prior to use. Receives radiopharmaceuticals on the day of delivery and verifies proper receipt as per policy and procedure. Verifies the activity level of the dose prior to administration. Exercises appropriate judgment to assess and respond to patient needs prior to, during, and after visits in the Radiology department.
