Certified Pharmacy Technician III

The Pharmacy Technician III provides technical support to the drug distribution activities of the Department of Pharmacy Services. Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP), and national certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required and must be maintained. Additionally, the applicant is required to have an additional area-specific certification (may include but not limited to state certification, compounding certification, etc. 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician is required. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking. Ability to climb stairs, work indoors, and from elevated areas. Ability to work in confined/cramped spaces and from kneeling positions. Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/arms and shoulders. Ability to reach in all directions and possess good finger dexterity. Ability to work in a latex safe environment. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, hearing acuity, gross motor functions, tactile sensory functions, and good olfactory sensory function. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use.
