Salary: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 The YMCA Alexandria is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team as the School Age & Summer Camp Program Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun and positive environment daily! The Program Director oversees the overall operation of the School Age/Summer Camp program site(s), including curriculum development, delivery, and health and safety of the children. Some of the exciting responsibilities include: Managing the daily operations of the afterschool sites during the school year and the day camp programs during the summer. Establishing relationships with children and families and being responsive to their needs. Ensuring all children receive enriching educational programming focused on positive experiences and child outcomes. Assisting staff in developing meaningful curricula that meet the needs and interests of the group and individual children. Interviewing, hiring, supervising, and providing training and professional development for staff. Qualifications and Skills: A graduate degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation, with six months of programmatic experience; OR a bachelor's degree in a related field with one year of experience. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working primarily with preschool/school-age children in a licensed child care center. Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills, including budget development, income production, and expense control. Effective communication skills with children and parents, and a commitment to working within a diverse population.
