: The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Personal Lines Underwriting Strategy is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of underwriting for all personal lines’ insurance products. This individual will lead initiatives to enhance underwriting profitability, improve risk selection, and drive innovation through data analytics, technology, and market intelligence. The AVP will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure underwriting strategies are aligned with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and evolving market dynamics. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

: Develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with corporate goals and Personal lines mission. Respond to market trends across personal lines products. Define and continuously refine underwriting guidelines, risk appetite frameworks, and authority levels to ensure consistency, compliance, and effectiveness. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of underwriting strategists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Partner with the Data Science team to implement and optimize referral models, AI tools, and advanced analytics that enhance underwriter efficiency and decision-making. Lead post-implementation analysis and refinement of underwriting strategies on a national scale. Ensure premium accuracy through effective modeling, inspection programs, and other quality assurance initiatives. Maintain a compliant underwriting environment by coordinating and participating in periodic internal audits for Personal Lines. Collaborate with Corporate Risk Management, State Management and Sales teams to assess emerging risks, including concentration and aggregation exposures. Maintain regular communication with the Reinsurance team to evaluate the impact of Personal Lines on overall portfolio performance. Participate in the evaluation of new underwriting initiatives, technologies, and vendors; conduct cost-benefit analyses to support strategic decision-making. Stay current on industry trends and regulatory developments; serve as a subject matter expert across internal teams including Sales, Marketing, Service, and Finance. Provide underwriting expertise and strategic input to Claims and Technology teams as needed. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY

: 10+ years related work experience, including at least 3 years in a strategic leadership role Experience with data analytics, predictive modeling, and underwriting technology platforms Demonstrates strong change management capabilities by effectively leading organizational transformation, engaging stakeholders, and driving adoption through clear communication, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration. Strong Project Management skills, including stakeholder analysis Relationship Building & Negotiation An inclusive decision-maker who quickly gets to the crux of an issue provides options leading to its closure Strategic Partnering – Creates collaborative, productive partnership with key stakeholders such as State Management, IT, Underwriting, Operations, Claims, Actuarial, vendors and other key functions to establish strategies that will achieve overall company goals. Ability to integrate critical analysis with other functional leaders to plan for and help achieve Product strategies Strong executive presence and the ability to make effective presentations to large and small groups at all levels in the organization.
