Law Clerk I
CGS is seeking a Law Clerk to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This position offers candidates the opportunity to demonstrate expertise in litigation support tasks such as cite checking, document review, legal research, and other relevant responsibilities.

Skills and attributes for success:
Works under the supervision of a Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
Performs complex legal research for trial staff.
Assists in preparing draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and memoranda of law.
Reviews and researches ROI (Release of Information).
Reviews new cases and conducts legal research on pertinent laws.
Edits final decisions and drafts legal opinions on recent cases.
Reviews cases for issuance.
Responds to citizen letters.
Reviews AMICUS briefs.
Briefs attorneys on legal issues, theories, and draft statements of facts.
Assists attorneys throughout all phases of litigation.
Performs cite checking using online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and Bluebook standards.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree, or current attendance at an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed, or equivalent legal training or experience.
Sound knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and resources.
Proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Extensive experience with cite checking and Bluebook formatting.
Experience conducting complex legal research.
Proficiency with computer applications including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
Ability to consistently produce high-quality work under pressure.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in a government or litigation support environment.
Experience with Relativity (must be referenced on resume).
Publication of legal writings.
Participation in Law Review.
Current or active security clearance.
