This position supervises up to six engineers working on projects including flood mitigation, detention and water quality facility repair, feasibility studies, and regional stormwater facilities. It is a working supervisor role, with 50% of time spent on project management or technical tasks and 50% on supervision and leadership. The individual will provide guidance, mentorship, and performance metrics, assist with work planning, collaborate with project managers, and foster a positive, learning-focused environment. The role also involves serving as a technical expert and supporting program activities such as feasibility, process improvements, team building, and workload planning. About the Team
The Stormwater Capital Unit designs, permits, implements, and monitors stormwater projects addressing flow control, water quality, and infrastructure updates. Our multidisciplinary team includes engineers, project managers, a landscape architect, and an ecologist with expertise in project feasibility, design, regulatory management, construction, and effectiveness monitoring. We seek a compassionate, resourceful leader who can support our teams in advancing high-priority stormwater projects. The ideal candidate builds project teams, mentors staff, manages stormwater infrastructure projects, and collaborates effectively with partners. Provide supervision, technical oversight, and quality control for stormwater capital projects, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and fostering a valued work culture. Lead planning, design, and construction of projects such as retrofits, new facilities, flood reduction, and water quality improvements to meet regulations. Review projects for compliance with engineering standards. Manage or support capital projects and collaborate with leadership to plan and prioritize work. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering, water resources, or related field, or equivalent experience. At least five years of experience as a lead capital project engineer. Experience managing capital projects. Strong organizational and time management skills. Competencies
