Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION Primary responsibilities include designing and developing technical systems for large, complex projects from schematics through construction administration. TYPICAL DUTIES Responsible for developing building system concepts and documentation from schematics through construction administration within the discipline. Coordinate regularly with the Supervisor during project development and performance. Have proficient knowledge of key design sectors including: Power Distribution Lighting and Controls Fire Alarm Specification writing and editing Energy conservation and sustainability/report writing Function as Project Discipline Team Leader on large, complex projects when assigned. Oversee project team members within the discipline and ensure compliance with project budgets. Prepare and monitor project status reports. Coordinate with Discipline Leader on project Man-hour estimates. Conduct code research and document findings for projects. Contribute to project cost modeling and design development. Maintain an Electrical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project. Conduct material and product research as needed. Attend project meetings and interface with other Discipline Team Leaders. Respond to client inquiries within 24 hours. Review submittals and interpret documents during bidding and construction phases. Mentor staff to ensure quality services and support staff development. Perform additional duties as assigned. TYPICAL DUTIES - NON-PROJECT RELATED Support and mentor engineers for career growth. Provide feedback on staff performance. Identify and participate in quality and service improvements. Engage in training and professional activities. Contribute to department discussions and recognize staff achievements. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree and licensure required. LEED accreditation preferred. At least six years of relevant experience preferred. Deep knowledge of all project phases from schematic design to close-out. Understanding of design discipline coordination. Proficiency in short circuit and coordination calculations, software like EDSA or SKM preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and mentor staff, delegate tasks. Proficiency in CADD/BIM and computer applications. Attention to detail, self-motivated, flexible. Ability to work under deadlines and travel to project sites. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to travel to project sites and access various locations for observation and evaluation. Use of communication and documentation equipment. Visual acuity for responsibilities.
