Experience should include management of lab activities, technical support of a cGMP manufacturing facility, including strong knowledge and engineering leadership for viral vector manufacturing and processing equipment, and process characterization.

Preference for experience leading experiments and designing DOEs.

Prior experience with cell culture, viral vector manufacturing, recovery, and/or purification of viral vector products in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant/Associate Scientist/Engineer will join our Vector and Gene Delivery MS&T group in GDPAD. The successful candidate will design and execute experiments supporting commercial vector manufacturing processes. Collaboration across all CMC functional areas is essential to ensure project progression, effective execution, and clear communication of challenges and opportunities.

Duties/Responsibilities

Oversee lab activities and schedules.

Design studies to support deviation investigations in commercial manufacturing.

Support the execution of process characterization studies.

Collaborate with the commercial vector team to identify process improvement opportunities and make recommendations.

Lead the identification and implementation of new technologies and procedures from Development into Manufacturing.

Support efforts to align and harmonize manufacturing processes across multiple sites.

Provide hands-on training of commercial process unit operations to the Vector MS&T team.

Identify, design, and manage small capital engineering projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong communication skills and experience working with technical teams.

Experience managing lab activities and supporting a cGMP manufacturing facility, with leadership in viral vector manufacturing and process characterization.

Experience leading experiments and designing DOEs is preferred.

Knowledge of cell culture, viral vector manufacturing, recovery, and purification is preferred.

Experience with SOPs, cGMPs, and regulatory environments is required.

Experience in process characterization is a plus.

Education/Experience/Certifications

Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Experience in process characterization is preferred.

Knowledge of cellular immunology or vector manufacturing is a plus.

Understanding of cGMP, ICH guidelines, PPQ, and quality systems.

Proficiency in MS Office and statistical software (R, JMP, Minitab).

Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Experience in writing experimental plans and protocols.

Physical Demands and Work Environment Position involves repetitive hand use, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, twisting, and gowning procedures. Requires time in office and lab, with occasional shift work, weekends, and holidays. Lab work involves handling hazardous materials and blood/animal-free environments.
