Description The Senior Electrical Controls Engineer will lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative engineering solutions, ensuring they meet operational, quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing equipment, processes, and systems to enhance performance and reliability. Provide technical leadership and collaborate across functions to ensure successful project delivery and knowledge transfer. Key Responsibilities May Include : Lead the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from concept development and design to commissioning and operational handoff, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and operational objectives. Ensure adherence to global safety standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA), risk assessments, and regulatory requirements during the design, installation, and operational phases of projects. Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization, focusing on reliability, maintainability, and productivity to reduce downtime and improve system performance. Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on engineering best practices, troubleshooting issues, and mentoring junior engineers to foster technical growth and innovation. Partner with Operations, IT, Safety, and other stakeholders to align project objectives, address technical challenges, and drive seamless integration across functions. Oversee supplier and contractor activities, ensuring adherence to standards, timelines, and budget constraints during project execution. Develop training materials and upskill teams on new technologies, systems, and best practices, ensuring proper documentation and operational handoff. The primary responsibility of the Senior Electrical Controls Engineer is to lead the development and support of complex automated solutions enabling CHEP to achieve a touchless plant. The Senior Electrical Controls Engineer will apply engineering principles to support the development of automated solutions, programmable logic control systems (PLCs), instrumentation, and IT solutions. Provide senior-level electrical controls support for both new and existing technologies at CHEP. This includes technologies involving Networking, Vision, RFID, Programming, Marking, and other systems supporting team activities. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field Proficient with Rockwell devices Basic knowledge of robotic safety and programming Familiar with ISO standard 13849-1 Ability to work in a remote environment Experience : 10 years' experience in electrical/control systems design, development, and implementation in relay/PLC-based controls within a fast-paced industrial, logistics, or manufacturing environment Operations experience supporting production 5-10 years project engineering and/or project management experience Experience with simulation data collection and application Experience with safety programming using Rockwell Studio 5000 and Asset Centre Experience with networked devices using EtherNet or DeviceNet Knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, control components, and automated equipment Demonstrated experience with functional safety standards (IEC 62061, IEC 13849, IEC 61508) Experience with conveyor, sortation, scanning/vision, shuttle systems, AMRs, and robotics Remote Type: Fully Remote Skills to succeed in the role : Adaptability, active learning, curiosity, empathy, initiative, emotional intelligence, digital literacy, problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to developing a diverse workforce.
