Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
to support mission-critical databases for federal health agencies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle database administration across on-premise and cloud environments, with proven skills in ensuring database reliability, performance, and security for large-scale health data systems. In this role, you will provide advanced database administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning for Oracle and related database technologies, ensuring compliance with federal standards, security requirements, and best practices in support of public health missions. This is a hybrid role based in Rockville, MD. The ability to obtain and retain a public trust level 4 is required for consideration. Key Responsibilities Database Administration:
Manage, configure, and maintain Oracle databases in standalone and multitenant architectures across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments, both on-premise and in the cloud. Federal Health Support:
Work directly with federal health program stakeholders to ensure database operations align with agency missions, security mandates, and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA). High Availability & Disaster Recovery:
Implement and manage Oracle Data Guard for replication and failover; develop and maintain RMAN backup and recovery strategies. Data Migration & Replication:
Configure and maintain Oracle GoldenGate for high-availability data replication and synchronization across distributed environments. Performance Tuning:
Monitor and optimize database performance, leveraging advanced SQL and PL/SQL tuning techniques to support complex health data analytics and reporting. Job Scheduling & Monitoring:
Develop, automate, and monitor database jobs to ensure smooth operations with minimal downtime. Database Upgrades & Patch Management:
Plan, test, and execute version upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal impact on federal health operations. Security & Compliance:
Implement and enforce security controls to safeguard sensitive health data in compliance with federal policies. Required Qualifications Experience:
Minimum 10 years of hands-on Oracle database administration experience. Proven expertise with Oracle 19c, including both standalone and multitenant architectures. Strong experience with Oracle Data Guard, RMAN, export/import utilities, GoldenGate, and job scheduling. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, performance tuning, and troubleshooting complex database issues. Experience with Oracle client tools and utilities. Background in supporting mission-critical systems for federal or healthcare organizations. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Oracle on Linux and MySQL on Ubuntu. Familiarity with federal health IT systems, standards, and security requirements. Prior experience supporting agencies such as NIH, CDC, CMS, FDA, or HHS. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range:
$155,000 $165,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits:
