Location: Dallas-Fort Worth metro area Reports To: Executive Director Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: Immediately Salary: $85,000- $95,000 The Texas Democratic Party (TDP) is seeking a dynamic and experienced fundraising leader to serve as our Development Director. This is a senior-level role responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling an ambitious, multi-channel fundraising operation to power year-round organizing and ensure long-term sustainability for Democrats in Texas. The Development Director will lead a team of staff and consultants in building and sustaining a robust financial support program, cultivating major donors, growing our small-dollar program, executing fundraising events, and supporting compliance. This position plays a critical role in building the strategic financial infrastructure necessary to flip the Texas House, win down-ballot races, and elect Democrats across the board. Responsibilities ● Design and implement an integrated short- and long-term fundraising plan in collaboration with the Executive Director, senior leadership, and the Finance Committee. ● Lead the major donor program, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high-level prospects. ● Manage and grow the grassroots fundraising program, including digital giving (in coordination with digital staff), recurring donors, and direct mail. ● Lead the development and execution of high-impact fundraising events across Texas and virtually, including signature donor briefings and house parties. ● Engage staff and the State Committee by creating an organizational culture of fundraising. ● Serve as a resource for Democratic County Parties, elected officials, and candidates on fundraising strategy and reporting. ● Raise funds through consistent personal call time and ensure preparation and oversight of call time for the Executive Director, Party Chair, and other principal fundraisers; manage all related staff preparation, follow-up, and donor tracking. ● Oversee the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive donor records using NGP VAN and fundraising CRMs. ● Collaborate with the Compliance Team and legal counsel to ensure that all fundraising activities comply with federal and state campaign finance laws. ● Supervise the finance and development team, including staff, interns, and consultants. ● Provide fundraising training and support to Democratic county parties, candidates, and elected officials where appropriate. ● Partner closely with stakeholders, including labor unions, progressive partners, institutional donors, and national allies (e.g., DSCC, DNC, DCCC) to increase financial support of Democratic candidates. ● Create and present regular reports and analysis for the Executive Director, Chair, and Finance Committee. Preferred Qualifications ● Minimum 4+ years of professional experience in political, nonprofit, or university fundraising. ● Demonstrated continued success in managing high-level donor relationships and raising seven-figure revenue goals. ● Experience managing donor databases and compliance processes, preferably with NGP VAN and ActBlue. ● Track record of organizing successful fundraising events and call time operations. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ● Strong project management skills and ability to execute on deadlines in a fast-paced environment. ● Knowledge of Texas political landscape and Democratic donor networks. Skills and Attributes ● Passionate about electing Democrats and building long-term political power in Texas. ● Highly organized, proactive, and results-driven. ● Able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. ● Understand long and short-term strategy. Be able to help create a long-term plan for the party, monitor programs, and stick to goals. ● Capable of motivating and managing staff and cross-functional teams. ● Willingness to travel throughout Texas and work evenings/weekends as needed. ● Advanced knowledge of industry standard fundraising tools, including NGP and ActBlue.
