Physical Design Methodology CAD Engineer

As part of the Hardware Technology CAD team, you'll work on world-class CPU, GPU, Analog/Mixed Signal, and SoC designs by developing flows, tools, and methodologies for future Apple products. You'll explore new technology nodes, stdcells, and tools, collaborate with design teams and tool vendors to improve PPA (Power, Performance, Area), and develop internal methodologies using CAD algorithms and ML. We're seeking passionate engineers to impact a wide range of chips used across Apple’s products.
Responsibilities
Engage with cross-functional teams to address physical design challenges.
Develop innovative physical design and optimization solutions.
Create and support implementation flows for multiple projects.
Develop and maintain custom CAD tools for implementation and signoff.
Deploy new technology nodes effectively.
Develop tools and methodologies for PPA and productivity improvements, including ML solutions.
Collaborate with physical design verification, RC extraction, IR, and static timing analysis teams.
Work with EDA tool vendors to resolve issues and improve tools.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of Tcl, Python, or Perl scripting languages.
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of VLSI / Physical Design basics from coursework or internships.
Exposure to CAD tools, flows, or PD methodology.
Knowledge of analysis in Physical Design, such as extraction, timing, noise, and verification.
