Position Title:
Staff Scientist II/III - Groundwater
Location:
Denver, CO (preferred)
Compensation:
29.32 - 43.25 per hour (negotiable based on experience)
We are seeking a
motivated and detail-oriented staff scientist with experience in hydrogeology
to join our
Denver Groundwater Department . This position will provide and opportunity to gain hands-on experience in
hydrogeologic investigations, groundwater modeling, and environmental consulting
and grow professionally in the field of water-resource science.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct guided research, gather data, and analyze technical information to support project development. Compile tabular and graphical data for analysis and reporting. Create technical drawings, schematics, or models using industry-standard software. Assist in analysis, troubleshooting, and quality control processes. Accurately document task progress, results, and conclusions with project managers. Contribute to field support tasks such as lithologic logging, aquifer testing, water-level monitoring, and water quality sampling. Technical and safety training will be provided. Candidate must hold a valid driver's license and be able to drive to field sites Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones. Attend team meetings, contribute ideas, and present findings as needed. Ensure tasks comply with company policies, safety standards, and scientific best practices.
Qualifications
Required :
Master's Degree and/or equivalent experience in environmental sciences, hydrology, geology, or a related field Strong understanding of scientific and engineering principles in hydrology and geology 1-5 years of scientific experience Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to drive to field sites and client meetings
Technical Skills
Experience with field experiments or projects, modeling, geochemistry, and/or research related to hydrology strongly preferred Experience processing datasets and communicating findings through writing, graphs, and figures Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Suite (required), Google Earth (required); GIS software (e.g. ArcMap or QGIS) (required), and coding (e.g. R, Python) (preferred), modeling (e.g. GW Vistas, Modflow) (strongly preferred) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Professional Skills
Effective communication and teamwork skills Positive attitude and ability to accept constructive feedback Critical thinking and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently, while knowing when to ask questions or for assistance
Location Type:
In-person or Hybrid, 2-3 days in the downtown Denver office or field site, 2-3 days remote (preferred) OR remote to the Denver office, working from Colorado (required to work from Colorado)
