SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America. Job Description Summary : The Chief Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing competitive and accurate cost estimates. The Chief Estimator will also oversee and mentor the estimating team. Position Responsibilities and Duties : Lead, and manage the estimating department for all estimates. Set standards for estimating templates and outputs for consistency. Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and enter into computer estimating system, review computer reports for accuracy and completeness. Request quotes from suppliers for materials and equipment. Identify qualified suppliers / subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness with established plans and specifications. Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages including subcontract work, equipment rentals, tools and suppliers. Prior to the issuing of formal bid packages, provide principles a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package. After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain the estimate, scope of work, quotes and offer aspects for the successful transition of the project. Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents. Draft scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimate figures. Develop, mentor and train a team of estimators. Track bid results and maintain records of bids and estimates. Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements : 10 years electrical estimating experience, with 3 years in a leadership or chief role.Experience with Accubid estimating softwareAbility to understand substation, transmission and switchyard, energy storage and electrical design and components, their purpose and useLicensed Master Electrician or equivalent (preferred but not required)Proficient in Excel, Word, and OutlookFamiliar with Bluebeam and Live Count.Ability to keyboard 50-60 wpm accuratelyWord processing and / or data entry skillsProficient in English verbal communication skills, including professional telephone mannerAbility to make administrative / procedural decisions and judgmentsAbility to create, compose, and edit written materialsReliability, dependability and flexibility
