Manager of Data Governance
to lead enterprise-wide data governance initiatives that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This role is pivotal in establishing and maintaining a robust data governance framework, ensuring data quality, consistency, and protection across the organization.
You will oversee a team of data engineers and analysts, driving the implementation of best practices, tools, and processes that enhance the visibility, trust, and value of our data assets. This position plays a key role in supporting strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance, and enterprise data lifecycle management.

8:00AM - 5:00PM (On call support required, as needed).

Key Responsibilities
Lead the deployment and maintenance of data governance processes across the data lifecycle—from sourcing to consumption. Establish and enforce adherence to enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards. Manage and mentor a team of data professionals, prioritizing work and fostering professional development. Oversee the implementation and optimization of data governance tools, including data catalogs, master data management (MDM), and data quality platforms. Ensure accurate metadata management and classification of data assets to support discoverability, security, and compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align data governance initiatives with business and regulatory needs. Develop subject matter expertise in Novant Health’s data governance practices and their impact on enterprise data strategy. Support the development of an end-to-end data lifecycle management approach. Ensure data governance products are trusted, accurate, and aligned with enterprise architecture and change management protocols. The Manager of Data Governance will report to the Director of Data Management and is responsible for the oversight of data governance operations.

Qualifications
Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Computer Science, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, or related field Experience: 10+ years Information Technology, required. 5 years Data Governance, required. 4 years Manager or Supervisor for IT team, required. 2 years Cloud Architecture, required. Additional Skills (required): Must have demonstrated proficiency in normal managerial duties such as developing job descriptions, performing reviews, identifying and promoting qualified team members, recruiting, and enforcing employment policies. Possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of data governance principles, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in enterprise data governance processes. Effectively manages multiple priorities with strong organization and planning skills. Capable of managing a team across multiple large projects working with managed services partners. Demonstrates knowledge of process improvement principles and applies appropriately to improvement activities. Provides consistent and fair oversight by creating an environment that supports and respects diversity to promote creative problem solving. Demonstrates understanding of Healthcare industry standards, HIPAA privacy, and security rules. Leads research on emerging technologies to drive innovation to deliver a stable, scalable, and secure environment and effectively communicate solutions within the team and to various levels of the organization. Participates in key technical and design discussions with leaders, technical architects and leads. Provide assessment, strategies, advisory services, and technical vision to prospects and customers as part of the data governance strategy. Leverage automation technologies to rapidly deliver environments while maintaining configuration management across the enterprise. Develop and implement data quality frameworks and master data management strategies. Establish and enforce data quality standards, metrics, and monitoring processes. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and manage master data entities across the organization. Monitor compliance with data-related regulations and best practices. Success Indicators:You build a Center of Excellence team with maturity in Architecture, Security, Metadata Management, DevOps, Community Engagement. Your team of engineers are driving innovation in all areas of metadata management, data quality, and master data management. You and your team are customer centric, delivery-focused and results driven. You and your team provide a remarkable and delightful experience to stakeholders and team members. You and your team achieve measurable improvements in data accuracy, completeness, and consistency as defined by established metrics. You and your team are driving reduction in data quality issues and are providing trusted master data. Your team provides successful implementation of a data governance strategy with visibility into sensitive data and in alignment with policies and procedures. Your team provides clearly documented critical data assets across the organization.
