The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical, and restorative needs of each patient. This role practices within the nurse practice act and licensure, upholding UNC Health Appalachian's standards of care, safety, and patient experience. The RN demonstrates professionalism, clinical expertise, and effective communication to foster a healthy work environment and high-quality outcomes.

Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $34.00 /hour.

Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is $34.00 /hour or more (depending on education & experience). Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position. Provide safe and effective direct and indirect patient care. Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergencies. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrate accountability, clinical expertise, and professional conduct. Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise support staff within scope of practice. Foster a healthy work environment through teamwork and respect. Adhere to all regulatory standards, hospital policies, and ethical guidelines. Position Requirements:

Minimum Education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Experience:

Previous experience as a psychiatric RN is preferred but not required. Previous healthcare experience in an acute or clinic setting is preferred. Required Registration/License/Certification:

Current licensure as an RN in North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hire. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification required (to be completed as part of orientation). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and staff. Competent in safe and effective nursing care within licensure and policy. Knowledge of nursing care continuum in the department. Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and patient-centered care. Physical Demands:

Lifts, positions, pushes, pulls, and/or transfers up to and greater than 50 pounds Manual dexterity and mobility Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting/standing/walking Bending, squatting, twisting, and turning Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less Working Conditions:
