Cardiovascular Technician I - Cath Lab - Full Time Days

Under the general direction of the Cath Lab Manager, Director of Cardiovascular Services, and Cath Lab Medical Director, the Cardiovascular Technician I works effectively in providing individualized patient care to less acutely ill, critically, and/or acutely ill patients. Responsibilities include patient care and functioning as a scrub assistant to the physician during all diagnostic and coronary intervention procedures.
Core Competencies
Assists the physician by preparing and passing equipment such as catheters, instruments, and pressure monitoring systems for diagnostic procedures including interventional procedures, PTCAS, stent implantations, directional atherectomy, rotational atherectomy, and valvuloplasty. Also includes intraaortic balloon placement, endomyocardial biopsies, and transseptal procedures via brachial or radial approach, using sones technique. Monitors patients' ECG, blood pressure, arterial and right heart pressures, and oxygen saturation readings. Prepares the procedure room, trays, and patients according to physician preference cards. Practices aseptic technique in opening sterile supplies and maintains a sterile field throughout procedures. Scrubs in, gowns, and gloves following approved techniques. Cleanses the skin immediately after procedures and applies dressings to puncture sites. Assists in cleaning and preparing the rooms for subsequent procedures. Participates in weekly Cath Conferences and records notes accordingly. Provides healthcare services and maintains interpersonal relationships across all age groups as applicable. Ensures a safe working environment by securing gurneys, using side rails, keeping the unit free of hazards, adhering to infection control guidelines, and proper disposal of waste and sharps. Answers calls promptly and courteously, relays messages to appropriate personnel. Maintains department equipment by reporting faults, assisting with repairs, and ensuring supplies are stocked and used efficiently. Assists in orienting new Cardiovascular Technicians to department routines and equipment. Maintains medication security, accessible only to authorized personnel. Participates in unit activities, including staff meetings and inservices, and adheres to hospital performance improvement processes. Supports team members by assisting with workload distribution and maintaining a well-functioning unit. Additional Information Experience
Minimum of 3 years in procedural areas such as Cath Lab, ER, OR, or as an EMT. License / Certification Requirements
Basic arrhythmia and/or 12-lead ECG course or equivalent work experience. BCLS or ACLS Certification. Compensation Range: $36.24 - 56.97/hr #J-18808-Ljbffr
