Job Description: Senior Oracle Database Administrator
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, performance, and reliability of mission-critical Oracle database environments, including Exadata systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oracle Database Management - Oversee the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of Oracle databases across production, test, and development environments.
2. Patch Management & Upgrades - Plan and execute Oracle database patching, version upgrades, and migrations while ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to compliance standards.
3. Exadata Administration - Manage and support Oracle Exadata systems, including cell servers, storage servers, and Infiniband networks, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
4. Performance Tuning - Monitor, diagnose, and resolve performance issues through in-depth analysis, query optimization, and resource management.
5. Backup & Recovery - Design, implement, and test robust backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard to ensure data integrity and disaster readiness.
6. Security & Compliance - Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards (e.g., SOX, GDPR).
7. Automation & Scripting - Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine tasks, monitoring, and reporting using Shell, PL/SQL, and other tools.
8. High Availability & DR - Design and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, including RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate as applicable.
9. Monitoring & Alerting - Implement and manage monitoring tools to proactively identify and address database performance and availability issues.
10. Collaboration & Mentoring - Work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors; provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Education:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle database administration, including at least 2 years with Exadata systems.
• Proven track record of performance tuning and managing high-availability database environments.
• Certifications (preferred):
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) - Oracle Database 19c or later
• Oracle Exadata Database Machine Implementation Specialist
• Oracle Certified Expert (OCE) - Real Application Clusters and Grid Infrastructure Administration
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent (for understanding of IT service management processes)
Technical Skills:
• Strong expertise in Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM Cloud Control.
• Proficient in Shell scripting, PL/SQL, and Linux/Unix administration.
• Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud platforms is a plus.
