About the job:
At ChemResearch, the Maintenance Technician will be a member of our current Maintenance team and is responsible for working with our facility teams to lead, assist, and execute maintenance procedures and projects by supporting, fixing, and maintaining machines, equipment, and other general appliances with an emphasis on electrical and HVAC systems.
Essential Duties
Conduct employee training in equipment operations and practice safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced personnel. Works on job duties and assignments as they relate to maintenance, repair, installing, fabricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, and any other maintenance duties as needed. Follow standards, budgets, production goals, and rates, based on company policies, equipment and labor availability, and workloads. Responsible for scheduled and/or performing preventive maintenance checks and departmental inventory control. Diagnose & resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties related to, but not limited to, cranes/hoists, 3-phase motors, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, HVAC units, air compressors, pumps, exhaust fans, etc. Perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations. Performs start-up and shutdown functions on plant equipment and facilities as required. Responds to emergency calls as assigned. Responsible for maintaining departmental documentation as required. Workings safely at all times in compliance with OSHA/EPA regulations and resolves cited safety issues in a timely manner. Participate in the handling, labeling, containment, and disposal of hazardous waste. Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed. Work Environment:
Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heaving carts, seasonal high temperature, and humidity levels, working at heights, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection). Must be able to wear respiratory protection, when required. Potential splash exposure near process lines. Various chemicals are used in process areas. Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent GED is preferred. Requires broad-based knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing acquired through hands-on training. Technical degree with a minimum of two (2) years or certification in HVAC systems or equivalent vocational school is a plus. Blueprint & schematic knowledge, Wastewater System Maintenance is helpful. Essential Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds and stoop and bend and arms and hands Ability to alternate standing and sitting for 8 hours. Ability to hear and see or correct to 20/20. Ability to distinguish color (pass a colorblind test). Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms.
