The goal of our HR Department is to provide a full-service function that is customer service friendly and responsive to the ongoing needs relative to both full time and part time staff.
About the position:
The HR Student Assistant supports the HR team with tasks such as managing the HR email account, maintaining student employee records, supporting onboarding and terminations, checking payroll accuracy, and coordinating harassment training.
Job Functions: Monitors & manages HR email account. Answers inquiries from staff regarding basic personnel policies and procedures; responds to requests for information from the general public, students, faculty and staff. Creates, files, maintains current student employee records and archives past employee personnel files. Assists the HR Coordinator with student employee onboarding. Scans documents; makes copies of materials as needed for orientations, onboardings, meetings, and presentations. Reviews Payroll Registers each pay period for accuracy. Assigns mandatory Harassment Prevention Training to students and part-time employees. Manages student termination process by creating the Employee Exit Form; scheduling termination meetings and updating student files. Creates flows charts, trackers and guides as requested by supervisor Other HR duties/projects as assigned Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled at SFSU with a minimum of 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates At least one year of administrative experience (2 years preferred) Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain confidential information. Knowledge of office etiquette and practices, Familiar with Canva (preferred) Familiar with Google Suites (preferred)
